Chaweng vs. Lamai: At a Glance

Chaweng Beach is Koh Samui's bustling epicentre, famous for its powder-soft white sand, expansive shopping malls, and non-stop nightlife. Lamai Beach is its laid-back sibling, offering a more traditional beach-town vibe with golden sand, deeper swimming waters, and a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere.

They are located on the east coast of Koh Samui, just a 10-to 15-minute drive apart.

Chaweng Beach: The Vibrant Hub

Chaweng stretches for roughly 7 kilometres and is divided into North, Central, and South sections.

Lamai is a 4-kilometre crescent-shaped bay that feels much more compact and easier to navigate on foot.

- Excellent Swimming: The seafloor declines steeply, meaning you can actually dive in and swim right off the shoreline.

- Natural Icons: Home to the famous Hin Ta and Hin Yai (Grandfather and Grandmother) rock formations.

- Sunday Walking Street: Features one of Samui's best weekly night markets, packed with cheap street food, souvenirs, and local crafts.
