Pattaya Beach and Jomtien Beach

Pattaya Beach

Jomtien Beach

Pattaya Beach and Jomtien Beach are the two main coastal hubs of Thailand’s most famous resort city. While just a 10 to 15-minute taxi or songthaew (baht bus) ride apart, they offer completely different atmospheres.

Pattaya Beach

- Vibe: Urban, high-energy, and bustling. The beach is a 3-kilometre crescent lined with a busy coastal road, shopping malls, and roaring nightlife.

- The Scene: It is heavily focused on water sports like parasailing and jet-skiing. Because it acts as a launchpad for island ferries and speedboats, the water is generally busier and less ideal for quiet swimming.

- Best for: Travellers who want to be steps away from shopping, restaurants, and nightlife.

Jomtien Beach

- Vibe: Relaxed, family-oriented, and spacious. It stretches for 6 kilometres and features a slightly calmer pace.

- The Scene: There is a shaded promenade running along the length of the shore, perfect for jogging or strolling. It's lined with sunbeds, umbrella services, and casual dining spots.

- Best for: Those looking to escape the intensity of central Pattaya, preferring a more laid-back resort feel.

Travel Details

- Getting Between Them: You can travel easily between the two using the local baht buses (songthaew), which typically cost around 10–20 baht. Alternatively, a private taxi ride takes about 8–15 minutes and generally costs around 100–130 baht.
